Three Sioux Falls convenience stores reported frauds involving fake $100 bills early Tuesday morning, police say.

Police are unsure if the three incidences are related, said Sioux Falls Police Lt. Adam Petersen, but they are investigating the cases.

Suspects passing fake bills as money has become more common in Sioux Falls this year, Petersen said. Workers should be aware and check any $50 or $100 bills for authenticity, he said.

"They're easy to spot if you're being vigilant," Petersen said.
