The Arc of Dreams will be lit up blue and red for the upcoming SDSU-USD basketball games.

The Arc of Dreams is once again showing support for regional sports teams this weekend.

One side of the arc will be lit up blue and the other red ahead of this weekend's men's and women's basketball games between the University of South Dakota and South Dakota State University.

The lights will turn on at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights.

The SDSU women visit No. 25 USD at 1 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, the USD men host SDSU at 3:30 p.m.

The Arc of Dreams will be lit up red and blue on Thursday and Friday night for the upcoming USD-SDSU basketball games.

The Arc was lit up purple and gold last weekend ahead of the Minnesota Vikings' playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Jeff Hanson, media relations director for the SculptureWalk, said the positive reaction to that display means that the Arc will be lit up more during future major sporting events.

He said there are a couple of potential sponsors for Sunday's NFC and AFC Championship games featuring the Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tennessee Titans. The sponsors help cover the cost of lighting, regular maintenance and promotion, Hanson said.

"Art is about the experience, Hanson said. "Lighting the Arc of Dreams to create an experience for sports fans was a win for everybody. We were able to add to the experience of fans, add a little fun and in return, the fans were able to experience the art of the Arc of Dreams."
