Storm host Bismarck in regular-season finale

Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown has led the Storm to a 10-3 record so far this season.

The Indoor Football League regular season ends this weekend, with the Storm hosting the Bismarck Bucks on Saturday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

For Sioux Falls, their place in the postseason is secure. The Storm (10-3) will be the third-seed in the six-team IFL playoffs and host the six-seed next weekend. Arizona (13-0) and defending champion Iowa (12-1) have clinched the top two seeds, which earns them a first-round bye.

Whom the Storm will be hosting next week is still up in the air, as Green Bay (8-5) is locked into the 4-seed, but Tucson, Nebraska and Quad City are all tied at 6-7. Two of those three will make the playoffs as the final two seeds.

That means Saturday’s regular-season finale is essentially a tuneup for the Storm, and with the Bucks bringing a 2-11 record to Sioux Falls it may not take much for the hosts to go into the playoffs with a win.

Bismarck enters the game second to last in the IFL in total offense and dead last in total defense, pass defense, sacks and defensive interceptions. Their biggest weapon is wide receiver Frederick Abraham, who’s caught 39 passes this year, 10 for touchdowns.

The Storm come in ranked fourth in the league in points and total offense, as well as fourth in total defense and second in rushing defense.

Lorenzo Brown has had another productive season at the helm of the Storm offense, with 42 touchdown passes and 516 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground. Calen Campbell has added 12 rushing touchdowns and two more on kick returns, while Brandon Sheperd, Kent Shelby and Damian Ford have each reached double digits in touchdown catches, led by Shepherd’s 16.

On the defensive side of the ball, Claude Davis has a team-high 5.5 sacks, while TJ Neal, Charles Williams, Rick Rumph and Tre Dickerson have all surpassed 50 tackles on the year.
