Sioux Falls will be among the coldest places on Earth as temperatures drop Wednesday morning.

According to forecasts from the National Weather Service, the temperature in Sioux Falls will be minus-23 at 10 a.m.

That's colder than parts of Canada and Antarctica and as cold as the top of Mt. Everest.

At that same time, Toronto, Ontario is forecast to be at 3 degrees, according to the Weather Channel. Novosibirsk, Siberia will be 5 degrees.

Sioux Falls will even outfreeze Barrow, Alaska, the northernmost town in the United States. While it's minus-23 in Sioux Falls Wednesday, the National Weather Service says it will be just minus-10 at the northern tip of Alaska. And the top of the world — Mt. Everest — will be minus-23 as well.

Antarctica is positively balmy with a forecast in the mid-teens to the twenties Wednesday.

Factor in the wind chill, and it could feel almost 70 degrees warmer at McMurdo Station than parts of South Dakota. (Because it's in the Southern Hemisphere, McMurdo is currently in its summer months.)

We're not alone though — other Midwesterners are even lower than Sioux Falls. Minneapolis will sit at minus-25. Fargo, North Dakota will be at minus-30.

Those in the deep south are expecting to get snow.

Such low temperatures have ushered in a wind chill warning in Sioux Falls through noon Wednesday. A wind chill advisory will be in effect until Thursday morning. The coldest dip will be between 5 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, when the windchill drops to minus 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.

There's hope though — warmer days are on the way. After this, we'll all break out in shorts with Friday's high forecast at 30-degrees and Saturday's 42-degree forecast.
