Here's how much snow fell in South Dakota as of Friday

As temperatures plummet from a blast of frigid air from the first winter storm of the season in the Midwest, much of the northern and western part of state is under a winter storm advisory until 7 p.m. Saturday. 

And while portions of South Dakota have experienced anywhere from 1 to 8 inches of snowfall, southeastern South Dakota mostly remains untouched. 

Here's a look at  some of the snowfall totals so far Friday afternoon from around the state, according to the National Weather Service: 

Aberdeen: 3 inches

Dupree: 12.9 inches 

Eureka: 10 inches

Fort Pierre: 5 inches

Hot Springs: 4.5 inches

Huron: 1.5 inches

Lead: 11.7 inches

Midland: 7 inches

Murdo: 4.9 inches

Pierre: 8 inches

Rapid City: 3 - 6 inches

Roscoe: 7.6 inches

Spearfish: 5 inches

Timber Lake: 3 inches

Whitewood: 2.5 inches

A map by the National Weather Service shows estimated snowfall totals as of 8 a.m. Friday throughout South Dakota, during the first winter storm of the season.

Temperatures will continue to fall for the night, into the upper 20s, with wind chills near 20. But any chance of hazardous winter weather has faded and skies are expected to be clear after Saturday through the next several days, the weather service stated.

Snow forecast for the state for the rest of the day.

Here's a brief look at your forecast for the next several:

Saturday: A chance of snow before 9 a.m., and drizzle after 10 a.m. Any snowfall will be less than an inch as the rest of the winter storm passes. Expect a high near 44 degrees, with wind gusts up to 40 mph. Saturday night, expect blustery evening with a low of 31 degrees.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high of 47 degrees. The low that evening will be 29. 

Monday: Monday will be mostly sunny with a high near 56 degrees, and temps are expected to fall to 36 with a partly cloudy night.

Tuesday: The day follows a similar weather pattern as Monday, with a high near 50 and a low near 31 degrees.

Wednesday: Midweek's weather doesn't change much from the previous two days, with a high of 50 and a low of 37 expected.

Thursday: And as Sioux Falls inches toward the weekend, expect more sunny skies with a high of 61 degrees.

Sioux Falls is expected to see less than an inch of snow between Friday and Oct. 21, as the last of the first winter storm of the season passes through South Dakota this weekend.
