A Little Rock man accused of stabbing a woman in the arm and stomach outside of a fast-food restaurant faces a felony battery charge, officials said.

Authorities allege that 32-year-old Jeremy D. Williams attacked a woman Wednesday afternoon outside the Popeyes Louisiana Chicken at 3208 S. University Ave.

He appeared in Little Rock District Court the following day, charged with second-degree domestic battery — a felony carrying a maximum 10-year prison sentence — as well as a lesser fleeing from police infraction.

Several young people flagged down Little Rock officers around 1 p.m Wednesday saying that someone stabbed a woman outside of the chicken eatery, according to the police report.

An Arkansas Game and Fish officer was driving near the restaurant and began chasing Williams as local police arrived, officials said. Williams allegedly drove more than a mile during the brief chase, the report said.

The officer ordered Williams out of the SUV at gunpoint when he stopped before arresting him, police said.

Officers treated the woman, who had apparent stab wounds to her arm and stomach, before sending her to the hospital. Police said her wounds were not life-threatening.

The report didn’t say what led to the alleged attack.

Detectives questioned Williams following his arrest, where he reportedly asked about his charges and told investigators "that he should have been charged with attempted murder and began laughing," the report states.

A Little Rock District judge set Williams’ bail at $150,000 Thursday and ordered that he not have contact with the 35-year-old woman he’s accused of attacking.

He remained in the Pulaski County jail Friday after pleading innocent to the charges.

Williams was convicted of fleeing police last month, according to court records. He also has pending charges for illegal possession of guns and first-degree battery charges from 2017.

Court records didn’t list an attorney representing Williams to comment on his behalf.
