Melissa Marie Clemens, wife and loving daughter passed away at the age of 39 on May 24, 2020. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was the first child of Jennie and Dallas Queen. She lived in Moore, Oklahoma in her younger years but also lived in the Corpus Christi area before coming to Arkansas. She graduated from Cabot High School in Cabot, Arkansas. Melissa had a love of dance from the age of 2 years old. She participated in dance competitions, was on the cheerleading squad in Stuttgart, Arkansas and the dance team at Cabot High School. Melissa is a proud University of Central Arkansas graduate in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) completing her laboratory training through Baptist Health College Little Rock. She devoted several years to providing patient care in the Blood Bank both at Baptist Health Medical Center, Little Rock (BHMC-LR) and University of Arkansas Medical System (UAMS). Her family always knew that being a student was her very favorite thing. She received her Masters of Public Health (MPH) in Environmental Health in 2016 and was a rising 4th year PhD graduate student in the Pharmacology Program at UAMS scheduled to complete her PhD in spring 2021. Her name is listed on several published research papers. Her favorite activities included scuba diving and planning celebrations for her family and friends. She and her husband Loren were both Certified Dive Masters. They had traveled to Fiji, Thailand, Costa Rica and other Caribbean locations on dive trips. She leaves behind her husband Loren Clemens, a son Zac Clemens and his wife Alexa, her mother, Jennie Manees from Cabot, Arkansas, her father Dallas Queen, of Memphis Tennessee, a sister Tiffany Hayden and her husband Frank and favorite niece Trinity from Paragould Arkansas. Others included are her aunts: Dr. Linda Truitt, Edmond, Oklahoma; Dr. Kathy Mercer, Edmond, Oklahoma and Susie Truitt, Carnegie Oklahoma. Her cousins include Brady Courtney and his wife Danielle of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Andrew Mercer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Evan Walker from Norman Oklahoma. Extended family Includes David Manees, brother, Chad and his wife Ariel Manees located in Guam serving in the Coast Guard, Tom Kyle, Anna Texas, brother, Trey Kyle, Las Vegas Nevada. She had many friends and professional acquaintances. She is now resting at Roller-Owens Funeral Home on JFK in North Little Rock. A public viewing is scheduled for June 5th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. During the viewing, there will be a limit of 50 people at a time in the chapel. Her family asks that you wear a mask and honor the 6 feet social distancing related to Covid-19 precautions. Her family and friends plan a private celebration of her life on June 6th. Instead of flowers, her family would like others to donate to the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation (NADF). We hope these and other donations will help find a cure for this disease.
