The Governor of Arkansas says teacher pay raises are a top priority.

A 60-million dollar plan would increase the minimum teacher salary by four-thousand dollars over the next four years. It would affect 168 of the 235 school districts in arkansas.

Some are close to the 36-thousand dollar base salary while others are further away. The money would come from the state’s Educational Adequacy fund. The big question from Republicans and Democrats is how to permanently fund this after four years.
