Armagh’s got talent! 7 Hills Blues Fest inspires new local performers

Free ‘open mic’ opportunity at the bandstand on Friday at 12pm to help support Inspire

7 Hills Blues Fest Armagh

Armagh’s iconic 7 Hills Blues Festival will be in full swing next weekend as over 50 talented musicians and bands from near and far take to the stage as part of one of the city’s biggest annual musical event.

As part of this year’s festival, organisers are offering budding singers and musicians the chance to get directly involved by stepping up to the bandstand at Market Street on Friday 9 August from 12noon.

Conal Morgan, a lead guitarist from Newry, who recently stunned audiences with an outstanding performance at Ballyshannon’s Rory Gallagher International Festival with his remarkable musical skill and talent will be on stage from 12noon at the bandstand and will be encouraging everyone to get involved.

An exciting opportunity to showcase their talent with the full support of a backing band and equipment, organisers behind the free ‘open mic’ session will also be helping to support Northern Ireland mental health and wellbeing charity Inspire.

Delivering and supporting the promotion of mental health and wellbeing Inspire is one of the chosen charities of Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Cllr Mealla Campbell.

One of the organisers behind the charity-focused event, Gerald Cosgrove, said Friday’s bandstand event will provide a great chance for Armagh and the wider region’s brewing musical talent to come to the fore.

“Armagh City’s bandstand has always provided a platform for new talent and this year’s 7 Hills Blues Festival provides the perfect opportunity for everyone to get involved.

“We’re also delighted to be supporting Inspire so we want as many people as we can to come and visit, to listen, sing or play. Everyone is welcome and everything will be set up ready to go!”

To get involved, contact Gerald and the team by emailing keepkeltic@gmail.com or make your presence felt early on Friday 9th August.

The event kicks off at 12 noon at the bandstand, Market Street, and runs over lunchtime until 2pm.
