Richie Leonard decommits from Kentucky

Kentucky is still in “heavy consideration”.

There is still plenty of time for Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow to fill out their 2020 recruiting class, but today, the class took a hit.

Offensive line prospect Richie Leonard announced on twitter he is de-committing from Kentucky.

Mark Stoops pointed out back in February that the offensive line was among the team’s most significant needs for 2020, so possibly losing Leonard stings.

Leonard is a three-star recruit from the state of Florida. He is currently the 100th ranked prospect in the state and 48th best offensive guard prospect in the nation according to 247 sports.

Kentucky still, however, will have a chance at the sunshine state native as he said in his announcement Kentucky is “still heavily in consideration.” The Cats are also set to hear from four-star offensive tackle John Young in a few weeks who is likely going to pick the Wildcats.

Thus, this decommit hurts but by no means is earth-shattering.
