Disabled Augusta mother can't afford to provide daughter a Christmas

A disabled Augusta mother is in dire financial need this Christmas.

She says that her mother died from bone cancer, making it hard to catch up on bills and provide food and shelter for her and her daughter. That coupled with her Bell's palsy and rheumatoid arthritis in both knees and lower back makes it hard for her to work.

"I'm looking to my heavenly Father to heal my body and make a way for us to get a place to live in a house to make a home for my daughter and I," she writes. "Thank you for all your help and for listening."

The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund has helped make Christmas better for those who needed it for 88 years now. The fund has helped people such as this since 1930. Last year, the charity raised nearly $100,000 for children and families across the region.

Donations can be made online at augustachronicle.com/emptystocking, or by mail to the Empty Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903. They can be dropped off at the cashier’s office at the News Building weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m or at the Community Foundation for the CSRA, 720 St. Sebastian Way, Suite 160. The deadline to apply for Empty Stocking Fund assistance was Nov. 9.

The Empty Stocking Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization, making donations tax deductible.
