Man attacked woman in courthouse

An Augusta man allegedly attacked his girlfriend in a woman's bathroom at the Augusta Judicial Center and John H. Ruffin Jr. Courthouse on Monday following a hearing in juvenile court.

According to an incident report, around 11 a.m. Deandre Brown became irate at his girlfriend. The alleged incident sent the victim to the hospital and Brown to jail on a charge of aggravated battery.

, Officers found a large pool of blood on the bathroom's floor and blood splattered on the walls, floor, sinks, mirror, and stall. Another woman in the bathroom rushed to the victim's assistance and pushed Brown away, the incident report states. A paramedic told Richmond County Marshal Cpl. Matthew Perkins that she believed the victim's nose and eye socket were broken and she had a broken tooth, too.

Brown told Perkins that he was a trained boxer. Brown and the victim have two children together.
