An Augusta man accused of ambushing two brothers, killing one and wounding the second, was indicted Tuesday

The Richmond county grand jury returned an indictment against Michael D. Mitchell, 25, accusing him of murder, aggravated assault and weapon violations in the Jan. 9 shooting of 26-year-old Zachary Dunnum who died from his injuries, and Dashan Dunnum who was shot 12 times but survived. According to an earlier report in The Augusta Chronicle, the brothers were driving on High Street at Roosevelt Drive when a man stepped out and fired at them.

A second indictment was returned against Jasmine Smith accusing her of making a false statement in a government matter and hindering the apprehension of a criminal in connection with the Richmond County Sheriff Office's investigation of Mitchell. The indictment also accuses Smith of marijuana possession.
