"Donut Boy" Tyler Carach continues to make his way around the area as part of his mission to thank police officers in all 50 states.

Tyler, 11, along with his mother Sheena, stopped by the Burke County Sheriff's Office on Thursday to thank several area law enforcement agencies. Their non-profit organization, I DONUT Need A Reason To Thank A Cop, hands out free doughnuts to police officers. After stopping in Aiken, Tyler has visited 48 states, but decided to stop in Burke County because his father is working at Plant Vogle.

He was sworn in as an honorary Burke County Deputy and given an ID card and badge by Sheriff Alfonzo Williams. Waynesboro Mayor Greg Carswell issued a proclamation declaring Thursday, July 11, 2019 as "Donut Boy Day" in Waynesboro.

Other agencies brought patches and challenge coins for Tyler as a show of appreciation for his support. Tyler wants to be a K-9 handler, so the Hephzibah Police Department and Burke County Sheriff's Office K-9 handlers conducted demonstrations with their units.

The Carachs began the program in August 2016 in their community of Bratt, Fla. . They are expected to complete all 50 state in August with a trip to Hawaii.
