The Burke County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect in a Saturday morning shooting.

Jeramiah Gardner, 19, shot at his stepfather and ran off in the 700 block of Girard Avenue in Sardis at 9:45 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.

Gardner struck the vehicle his stepfather was in, but the man was unharmed other than minor injuries from glass and debris, authorities said. The stepfather found an AK-47 Gardner had hidden in the residence and turned it over to Sardis police. The gun was reported stolen out of Richmond County, the sheriff's office said.

Gardner was last seen without a shirt, wearing black pants and armed with a black semi-automatic pistol. Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at (706) 554-2133, and callers can remain anonymous.
