Augusta woman arrested after selling tobacco to inmate at Augusta State Medical Prison

An Augusta woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling tobacco to an inmate at the Augusta State Medical Prison.

Carol Barker, 54, was charged with one count of trading with convicts without permission. According to an arrest warrant, Barker went inside the prison on Feb. 1 and gave a prisoner a plastic bag of loose tobacco in exchange for $150.

Barker is being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
