Augusta grandmother needs financial help this Christmas

Staff Reports

Simply put, this Augusta grandmother says she is in a financial bind.

She has health problems, and frequent doctor visits help drain her meager finances. She says she is reaching out to anyone who can help.

“The struggle is hard but I’m not ashamed to ask for help,” she writes. “Just praying for a little help for a better Christmas for my granddaughter.”

The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund has helped make Christmas better for those who needed it for 89 years. The fund has helped people such as this since 1930. Last year, the charity raised more than $90,000 for children and families across the region.

Donations can be made online at augustachronicle.com/emptystocking, or by mail to the Empty Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903. They can be dropped off at the cashier’s office at the News Building weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m or at the Community Foundation for the CSRA, 720 St. Sebastian Way, Suite 160. The deadline to apply for assistance was Nov. 11.

The Empty Stocking Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization, making donations tax deductible.
