An Augusta man who stole $1,500 from a church donation box and has nine prior prison sentences for theft and fraud has been arrested again in Augusta for stealing $500 from a woman at a local restaurant.

Timothy P. Almy, 54, was arrested Tuesday on theft-by-taking charges in the early-December incident, according to court records.

Almy was paroled in late 2018 after serving three years of a five-year sentence for two counts of theft by receiving, selling stolen guns and possession of firearms by a convicted felon, all in Augusta.

In 2014, Almy was sentenced to a year in jail for stealing $1,500 from collection boxes in the St. Mary on the Hill church lobby.

According to Georgia Department of Corrections records, Almy began his first Georgia prison sentence in 1988 for which the charges were not stated. He served several years for a 2001 forgery in DeKalb County and financial identity fraud. He was sentenced to five years for impersonating an officer in Athens-Clarke County in 2003 and 10 years for a 2011 theft by taking in Fulton County for which he served 15 months.
