Augusta man charged in Warrenville fire that killed two dogs

An Augusta man was arrested for allegedly setting a Warrenville home on fire Saturday and killing two dogs inside.

Colton O’Brien, 30, was charged Monday with first degree burglary, second degree arson and ill treatment of animals in general, torture. According to an Aiken County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies responded to a call about a Saddle Horse residence on fire.

The home was fully engulfed when deputies arrived and the Langley Fire Department was called. While handling the fire, the victim approached deputies and told them she knew who had set the fire.

O’Brien was seen on camera approaching and walking around the home before it caught on fire. During a search of the home, fire crews found two dead dogs inside.

He is being held at Aiken County Detention Center.
