Burke County investigating suspicious death

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in a wooded area.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to Highway 56 South near Beedy Branch Road around 9 a.m. Wednesday in reference to the body.

The body has been sent to the GBI lab for autopsy.
