Durden has 10 RBI as

USC Aiken topples Paine

In Aiken, USC Aiken's Conner Durden set the school record and tied the Peach Belt Conference record with 10 RBI in the Pacers' 18-6 nonconference victory over Paine College.

Durden had a 3-run homer, two 3-run triples and and brought in another run with a walk.

USC Aiken 25-19 while Paine drops to 10-27-1.

Jackets throw scare into

Crawdads before losing

In Hickory, N.C., Aaron Bond made it interesting, but the Augusta GreenJackets still fell to the Hickory Crawdads 3-2 in South Atlantic League action.

Bond hit a solo homer with two outs in the ninth to cut the margin to one, but the Jackets failed to score again and dropped to 9-8.

McLendon has big day

in Lady Jaguars' sweep

In Orangeburg, S.C., Meredith McLendon had four hits and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Claflin in nonconference action.

McLendon had two RBI in the opening 8-0 victory and another in the 4-0 nightcap win. In the opener, Lauren Prescott had three hits and three RBI for the Jaguars.

In the nightcap, starter Morgan Hunter pitched the shutout and fanned six batters as Augusta University improved to 11-35.

 • South Carolina's Karly Heath, a former North Augusta player, has been named as the SEC Freshman of the Week.

Heath helped the Gamecocks to a 3-0 week with seven hits and two home runs on her way to a .778 batting average. She had an .800 on-base percent and had two or more hits in all three games.

KICKBOXING

'Thriller at Miller' event

is scheduled for May 4

The “Thriller at the Miller” kickboxing tournament will feature more than 100 athletes from the national teams of Canada, Mexico, and the United States on May 4th at the Miller Theater.

The event is a sanctioned WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organizations) North American Kickboxing Tournament organized by Greubel’s MMA owner Mark Greubel.

Soul City Sirens to host

Low Down Throw Down

Augusta's Soul City Sirens will play host to the sixth annual Low Down Throw Down Roller Derby Tournament May 3-5 at the Columbia County Convention Center.

Fourteen teams will compete in the WFTDA Division 3 event. The action will take place on Friday from noon to 9 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
