The Cardinals released veteran tight end Jermaine Gresham on Wednesday.

Gresham joined the Cardinals in 2015 and spent four years with the team. He signed a four-year, $28 million extension in 2017 but his salary outpaced the production, leading to the release.

Gresham had only nine catches for 94 yards a season ago while coming back from a torn Achilles.

The Cardinals signed veteran tight end Charles Clay to a one-year deal in February and recently tendered contracts to exclusive rights free agents Ricky Seals-Jones and Darrell Daniels. The team could look to add more depth to the position in free agency or the draft.

DEONE BUCANNON HEADS TO BUCCANEERS

Linebacker Deone Bucannon, the Cardinals' first-round pick in 2014, signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers on Wednesday. He reunites with former Cardinals coach Bruce Arians and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

Bucannon was a defensive fixture during Arians' tenure but his playing time was sporadic last season under coach Steve Wilks. Bucannon moves on after five seasons with the Cardinals.

CARDINALS SIGN KICKER

The Cardinals added kicker Cole Murphy to the 90-man roster. Murphy played for Syracuse from 2014-2017, where he was a two-time semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, given to the nation's best kicker.
