California style meets Phoenix dining: Two upscale restaurants from the Golden State are scheduled to open this October in the Valley.

Toca Madera, a high-end Mexican concept, expands from west Hollywood to Scottsdale Fashion Square. FLINT by Baltaire comes from the team behind Baltaire, a steakhouse in west Los Angeles, and is set to open in the Biltmore neighborhood.

As businesses enter the busy season, these two establishments join a slew of other restaurants that have opened recently in metro Phoenix, from a soul food restaurant in Laveen that's rooted in Southern tradition to a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Phoenix's Grand Avenue arts district.

If you're looking for a swanky new place to hit up, here's what's coming.

A wood-fired restaurant from the team behind LA's award-winning Baltaire will open in Phoenix this fall.

Opening in the The Esplanade on Camelback, this elegant restaurant serves wood-fired cooking and contemporary dishes inspired by the Mediterranean. Diners can expect views of Biltmore Fashion Park and Piestewa Peak, chandelier lighting and vintage furnishings, according to the press release.

"(It's) sort of like being invited to your friends for a backyard BBQ, if your friend happens to be a top-flight chef," said Dawson Fearnow, a restaurant spokesperson, in an email.

Chris Mayo, known for his work at Osio Culinary Group, Central Bistro and Fox Restaurant Concepts, will helm the kitchen. Although it won't be ready when the restaurant opens, a rooftop lounge also is opening soon. Expect bar bites and cocktails with a view.

When: Scheduled to open Oct. 21.

Details: 2425 E. Camelback Road, #109, Phoenix. 602-812-4818, flintbybaltaire.com.
