The spread of coronavirus has caused widespread closures, economic uncertainty and soaring rates of unemployment.  

And according to the Arizona Restaurant Association, the closures caused by COVID-19 have left 157,000 restaurant workers in Arizona without a job. 

On May 11, Gov. Doug Ducey gave Arizona restaurants the green light to resume dine-in services before the state's stay-at-home order expired on Friday, May 15. 

Now, some restaurants across the Valley are looking to hire more workers as business continues beyond takeout orders. 

Hiring restaurants include Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, which is looking to hire 40 employees at their new Glendale location, as well as Raising Cane’s, which is hiring more than 150 positions throughout Arizona.  

Café Valley Bakery

What: Café Valley Bakery makes croissants, muffins, bundt cakes and several other baked goods for in-store bakeries, club stores and food service and convenience stores throughout the world.

Where: 7000 W. Buckeye Road, Phoenix.

Hiring details: Café Valley Bakery is hiring maintenance techs, quality assurance techs, sanitation techs, production supervisors and entry-level production and packaging employees at its Phoenix facility. 

The bakery will hold open interviews every Thursday at its Phoenix facility from 9 a.m. to noon until positions are filled. 

Firehouse Subs

What: Founded by firefighters in 1994, this casual restaurant chain serves hot specialty subs, salads and other firehouse-themed foods.

Hiring details: Firehouse Subs is looking for more than 75 crew members, shift leaders and managers for both part and full-time positions.

Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria

What: A Chicago-style pizzeria based in Northbrook, Illinois. The company's notorious deep dish pizzas are handmade with thin crust and thick slices of mozzarella. 

Where: 7507 W. Rose Garden Lane, Suite 105, Glendale. 

Hiring details: In late spring, Lou Malnati’s is opening its fourth Arizona location in Glendale, and the restaurant is looking to hire about 40 new employees as cashiers, dishwashers, delivery drivers, kitchen crew and phone staff. The new location will not have a dining area, and will only offer curbside carry-out, delivery and drop off catering services within the area.
