The Nash opened its doors in 2012 with the hope of serving the local jazz community.

You may have heard that the Nash is in the market for a new location.

Managing director Steve Maun says that's not necessarily true.

"In 2018, knowing that our lease would expire in August of 2020, The Nash began exploring its options for the future," he says, "to either renew its current lease, to renew and expand in its current location or to find an alternative location, preferably in the Roosevelt neighborhood or nearby."

The Nash opened its doors in 2012 at 110 E. Roosevelt St. in downtown Phoenix with the hope of serving the local jazz community by engaging young musicians to perform while offering educational opportunities.

The building, which is also home to Jazz in AZ, recently was sold to the urban development firm True North Studio.

But Maun says that hasn't affected the Nash's exploration of its options.

"We have not made any determination about moving at the expiration of our current lease," he says.

"We are continuing to review options for our location and explore a wide variety of scenarios that might enhance our ability to grow the jazz community in Phoenix including discussing with True North the possibility of renewing the lease at our current location. Our preference is to stay at our current location on Roosevelt Row, preferably with a new long-term lease with True North Studio."

Maun adds, "We're still reviewing our options and have not made any determination yet for our future plans."
