People cross the street in the rain on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, in downtown Phoenix.

Those hoping the weather will warm up over the weekend are going to be disappointed.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix says temperatures are expected to drop through Sunday, continuing a pattern of colder than usual temperatures this winter.

NWS says Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 61 degrees.

"Honestly (Saturday) might be the last time we see the 60s through the entire week," said Andrew Deemer, a meteorologist with NWS Phoenix.

Sunday's high is expected around 57 degrees with a 20 percent chance of showers.

The average high temperature in Phoenix for both days is 71 degrees, according to the NWS.

Deemer says Phoenix nighttime temperatures over the weekend will be in the 40s.

Looking ahead, high temperatures in the Phoenix area are expected to reach the mid to upper 50s though at least Friday. Rain is in the forecast for Monday, and again late in the week.

According to the weather service, Flagstaff is expected to see highs of 34 and 31 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Deemer says Flagstaff may see up to a half-inch of snow over the weekend.

The cold weekend comes after rare fog rolled across the Phoenix area Friday morning. Other parts of Arizona also dealt with flooding condition, as well as rain from a Pacific storm rolled into the state.
