A fast-moving storm that is expected to bring snow on Wednesday to higher elevations in northern Arizona could also bring a chance of light rain to areas north and east of Phoenix, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm is forecast to move into Arizona by Wednesday afternoon with snow levels around 5,500 to 6,000 feet and bringing possibly 2 inches of snow to communities at elevations above 6,500 feet, the Weather Service reported.

There's a 70% chance of snow showers on Wednesday in Flagstaff, dropping to 10% by nighttime.

The Valley is expected to remain dry, but light showers are possible in the higher-elevation terrain north and east of Phoenix.

"Light showers will likely still creep into the mountains of eastern Maricopa and southern Gila Counties where mid-level moisture will be adequate and cloud bases will be lower," a Weather Service forecast stated.

Gusty winds are expected over southwest Arizona.

Daytime temperatures in the Phoenix area are expected to stay in the upper 60s to low 70s with sunny days through the rest of the week, jumping into the mid-70s by the weekend.

In Flagstaff, daytime temperatures will be mid-30s on Wednesday and low to mid-40s with sunny days Thursday and Friday. Weekend temperatures will be in the low to mid-50s.
