Possible human bone found sticking out of Phoenix canal drain

Police were investigating Tuesday after receiving a report that a possible human bone was found protruding from a canal drain in east Phoenix.
More bones also were found in a large water vault located just north of the canal, Phoenix police said.
The investigation was taking place on the northwest corner of 40th and Van Buren streets, police said.
It wasn't immediately clear how long the bones have been there or whether they belonged to a man or a woman.
Investigators as of Tuesday afternoon believed all of the bones belonged to one person, police said.
No further details were immediately known.
An investigation is ongoing.
