Motorcyclist killed in Phoenix crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on 75th Avenue north of Buckeye Road on Tuesday afternoon, Phoenix police said.

Jose Rodriguez Jr., 31, was northbound on 75th Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a wooden utility pole, said Detective Luis A. Samudio of Phoenix police.

Rodriguez was thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene, Samudio said.

Rodriguez was wearing a helmet at the time. Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash, Samudio said.
