Things got cozy on the dance floor during DJ Image's Birthday Circus at Charlie's Phoenix on Saturday, January 6, 2018.

Everyone take a deep breath. Charlie's, Phoenix's popular gay bar, isn't going anywhere.

A rumor that Phoenix planned to buy the nightclub near Seventh Avenue and Camelback Road as part of a light-rail expansion project has swirled in Phoenix social circles for about a month.

A bar manager said the rumors are "completely false." The city confirmed there are no plans to acquire the land.

"Charlie's has been serving the community here in Phoenix for 34 years, and we have no intention of stopping any time soon," said Mark Boyd, the bar's corporate marketing manager.

Boyd said Charlie's will celebrate its 35th anniversary this November in its current location.

So have no fear, Undie Mondays, Pipin’ Hot Thursdays and all of the other parties that made Charlie's famous will continue for the foreseeable feature.
