15-year-old dies from trauma injuries in north Phoenix on Saturday night

Police were investigating the death of 15-year-old with trauma injuries who died after collapsing Saturday in a north Phoenix apartment complex parking lot.

People at the apartment complex told police they saw the teen "struggling to breathe" before he collapsed, Sergeant Tommy Thompson, a police spokesman, said in a released statement.  

The incident happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. at an apartment complex near near West Yorkshire Drive and North 31st Avenue.

The Fire Department took the teen to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to Thompson. 

Police did not specify the nature of his injuries.
