Los Angeles Dodgers' A.J. Pollock bashes Arizona Diamondbacks fans (or lack of them)

Arizona Diamondbacks fans already seem to have a complicated relationship with Dodgers outfielder A.J. Pollock.

That relationship might have just got a little more interesting.

The Los Angeles Dodgers held their fan fest at Dodger Stadium on Saturday and a couple of words Pollock said probably won't sit well with the Arizona faithful.

During a conversation at the event, Pollock and teammate Joc Pederson were asked about the atmosphere at Dodger Stadium.

Pederson replied: "It's special, you know. Look at all of you guys who just show up and it's not even a game day. We're really lucky for that. We go to Arizona, which is in our division, and there’s more Dodger fans than Arizona fans. Same for Colorado, San Diego, you guys travel well. We get to play in front of 50,000 every night.

"When we don’t play the Diamondbacks, I don’t know how many people go to the games.”

Pollock then joined the conversation, saying "not many," in reference to the number of fans at Arizona Diamondbacks games.

He added: "When we were in Boston this year, I remember walking the street with my wife trying to go to breakfast and I'm like  'why are there so many Dodger fans everywhere?' It's incredible. You guys travel so well. That's all the way across the East Coast. …"

Pollock was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2009 MLB draft (No. 17 overall) and spent the first seven seasons of his MLB career in Arizona.

He hit .281 with 74 home runs and 264 RBIs in Arizona, but missed a lot of time due to injuries.

He signed with the Dodgers as a free agent in January of 2019 and hit .266 with 15 home runs and 47 RBIs last season

Pollock only played in 86 games due to injury last season.

Last season, Pollock and former teammate Archie Bradley got into a shouting match during a game that resulted in benches clearing.

As for attendance, the Dodgers led all of baseball in attendance at home last season with an average of 49,065 fans at each game.

The Diamondbacks were 17th at 26,364 fans.

There are 30 MLB teams.
