Arizona ‘showing a lot of interest’ in Nevada transfer Jordan Brown

A long list of schools have reached out to Nevada forward Jordan Brown, but perhaps none have shown more interest than the Arizona Wildcats.

Brown’s father, Dion, told Evan Daniels of 247Sports that Arizona is showing “a lot of interest” and that the Browns have discussed visiting the UA and Kentucky.

A former McDonald’s All-American, Brown entered the transfer portal after Eric Musselman left Nevada to become the head coach at Arkansas. (Though Dion told Daniels that his son likely was going enter the portal anyway.)

There is still a chance Brown stays at Nevada, but it is unsurprising that Arizona has emerged as a very realistic landing spot for the northern California native. Coming out of high school, Brown chose Nevada over Cal and Arizona.

Stuck behind a senior-laden frontline, the 6-foot-10 Brown did not play a whole lot in his freshman season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game.

If Brown does decide to transfer, he would have to sit out the 2019-20 season before having three years of eligibility at his new school.

Arizona will be losing, at minimum, Chase Jeter and Stone Gettings to graduation after that season, opening up plenty of minutes in the frontcourt for Brown to compete for.

Perhaps Arizona’s biggest obstacle to adding Brown is clearing a scholarship for him. The Wildcats currently are right at the 13 limit for 2019-20, though a spot will open up if Brandon Randolph decides to stay in the NBA Draft.
