Annapolis Police investigating fatal shooting of 32-year-old rapper from Annapolis at crash scene

A 32-year-old rapper from Annapolis was found fatally shot inside a car that had been involved in a crash Friday night, Annapolis Police said.

Police were called at 9:19 p.m. to Forest Drive, near Newtowne Drive, for reports of a shooting. At Forest Drive and South Cherry Grove Avenue, officers found a car that had been involved in a single-vehicle crash. Inside the vehicle, officers found a man who was shot and was pronounced dead.

Annapolis Police identified the victim Saturday morning as Edward Montre Seay, of Chester. Seay, a rapper who grew up in Annapolis, is also known as Tre Da Kid.

Police closed off Forest Drive near South Cherry Grove Avenue and said it would remain closed for some time.

No other details were available.

The homicide came on the fifth National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and on the eve of a rally to kick off a safe summer in Annapolis.

About 20 businesses around town are sporting orange signs to highlight concerns about gun violence, and both City Hall and the Arundel Center have been lighted orange as well.
