Connor Kirst scored the game-winner with 2:45 left in overtime as visiting Villanova upset No. 1 Yale, 11-10, in men’s lacrosse Saturday. The victory was the 100th career win for coach Mike Corrado.
The Bulldogs (0-1) trailed 10-7 early in the fourth quarter before Matt Gaudet, Jack Tigh and Joseph Sessa each scored a goal over the final 10 minutes to force overtime.
Joey Froccaro and Keegan Khan had three goals each for the Wildcats (1-1). Jackson Morrill (McDonogh) had two goals and three assists for Yale.
No. 4 Penn State 17, Stony Brook 4: The visiting Nittany Lions (3-0) opened with a 15-0 run and routed the Seawolves (0-2). Mac O’Keefe had seven goals, including his 100th career, and an assist for Penn State. He is just the eighth player in Penn State history to score 100 career goals. His eight points tie his career high as well, a mark he has hit twice in his career.
No. 10 Duke 10, No. 6 Denver 9: Joe Manown scooped up a loose ball with eight seconds left and scored the game-winner to lift the host Blue Devils (3-1) over the Pioneers (1-1).
Duke trailed 7-4 in the fourth quarter, but outscored Denver, 6-2, in the final 12:37 to win. The Blue Devils built a 9-7 lead with 2:51 left, only to have the two-goal edge erased with only 19 seconds remaining.
“I’m not really sure [what flipped the switch on offense],” said Duke coach John Danowski. “I think probably a little bit of it was facing off and we got a few more possessions. We scored a little bit in transition. We opened up the field a little bit and we probably capitalized on a couple of their mistakes as well. The game got ragged and we were able to take advantage of that.”
Army 10, No. 8 Rutgers 9: Brendan Nichtern scored the game-winner with 3:54 left in the game and the visiting Black Knights (2-0) beat the Scarlet Knights (2-1). Rutgers used a 3-0 run over the third and fourth quarters to tie the score at 9 with 10:25 remaining.
No. 9 Notre Dame 19, Detroit Mercy 6: Bryan Costabile (Mount Saint Joseph) tied his career-high five goals to lead the host Fighting Irish (1-0) past the Titans (1-1). Notre Dame went on a 5-0 run in the third quarter.
No. 12 Ohio State 11, Massachusetts 7: Tre Leclaire scored four goals and Josh Kirson made 17 saves as the visiting Buckeyes (3-0) beat the Minutemen (0-2). The victory was the first by Ohio State at Garber Field.
Justin Inacio won 14 of 26 faceoffs for the Buckeyes.
No. 13 High Point 15, Drexel 14, OT: Koby Russell (Boys’ Latin) scored the game-winner on an assist from Asher Nolting with 41 seconds left in overtime as the visting Dragons improved to 3-0. The Dragons fell to 0-1. High Point, led by Ben Baker with a hat trick, scored the last three goals of the game.
No. 14 North Carolina 16, Harvard 11: Justin Anderson and Tanner Cook each had a hat trick to lead the host Tar Heels (3-0) past the Crimson (0-1). Carolina finished strong on a 5-3 run in the fourth quarter.
North Carolina outshot Harvard, 42-34, and led in ground balls, 47-34, and on faceoffs, 17-14.
No. 20 Syracuse 13, No. 15 Albany 5: Bradley Voigt scored six goals and the host Orange (1-1) upset the Great Danes (0-1). Six goals was the most scored by a Syracuse player since Dylan Donahue scored seven against Notre Dame in 2015
No. 16 Georgetown 14, Robert Morris 11: Daniel Bucaro had four goals and two assists and Jake Carraway (St. Mary’s) had three goals and three assists to lead the host Hoyas (2-0) past the Colonials (0-2). Georgetown trailed 6-4 in the first quarter. The Hoyas next face Towson on Saturday at noon.
No. 18 Colgate 16, Binghamton 10: Nicky Petkevich had four goals and an assist to lead the visiting Raiders (2-0) over the Bearcats (0-1). The win came eight days after Colgate had opened its season with a road triumph at then No. 10 Syracuse.

No. 3 Maryland 13, Penn 12, OT: Roman Puglise scored the game-winner 18 seconds into overtime to lift the visiting Terps (3-0) over the Quakers (0-1). Maryland gave up a three-goal lead in the fourth quarter before Logan Wisnauskas (Boys’ Latin) scored the tying goal with 2:58 left in regulation. Wisnauskas finished with four goals and two assists.
Salisbury 16, Widener 3: The visiting Sea Gulls (3-0) ran off 15 goals straight and cruised past the Pride (0-1). Josh Melton and Cross Ferrara scored four goals each for Salisbury.
Ursinus 13, Stevenson 9: Jacob Tatum scored three goals, but the host Mustangs (0-1) lost to the Bears (1-0). Ursinus closed the game on a 6-0 run.
