Cooler temperatures are expected throughout the Baltimore region Friday and into the weekend following an overnight thunderstorm, the National Weather Service said.

The high Friday is near 75 and the chance of rain before 2 p.m. is at 70%. This evening, temperatures are expected to drop to 64 with a 30% chance of scattered showers.

The weather service wrote that a cold front will be moving across the area late Thursday and into Friday, creating a pressure system in the region which may cause the showers.

Both Saturday and Sunday are expected to be in the low 80s during the day, the weather service said, and drop into the mid-60s by night.

The cooler temperatures follow severe thunderstorm and flood warnings Thursday night. The Weather Service said gusts of wind reached 60 mph. Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia asked concert goers on Facebook to evacuate the lawn area of the venue because of the storm. Beck and Cage the Elephant were scheduled to perform.
