Electrical work scheduled for BWA’s Newmarket station today

The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) wishes to advise residents of some
St. George, Christ Church and St. Michael districts that its Newmarket
station will be taken offline today, Wednesday, May 27th, between 9:00
am and 1:00 pm to facilitate urgent electrical upgrades being
conducted by the BWA in conjunction with the Barbados Light & Power
Company Ltd. (BLPC).

This station is one of the sources into the Hanson and Fort George
distribution network and therefore customers in some of the following
areas may be affected by low pressure or water outages while this
critical work is under way.

In St. George
Turnpike, Carmichael, Constant, Dash Valley, Buttals, Buckley, Watts
Village, Lower  Greys, Ellerton and surrounding districts.

In Christ Church
Frere Pilgrim, Edey Village, St David’s and surrounding areas.

In St. Michael
Upton, Fort George, Sargeant’s Village, Bartlett’s Tenantry, Wildey,
Clapham and surrounding districts.

Once the work is completed, the system may take some time to fully recover.

Residents are therefore advised to store an adequate supply of water
to assist during this time when their pipe borne supply is expected to
be affected. Water tankers will also service customers in the affected
districts as a temporary measure.

The Barbados Water Authority apologises to its valued customers for
the inconvenience this necessary work may cause.
