BURLINGTON - A 7-year-old boy died in a Sunday morning house fire.

Burlington firefighters were called about 12:55 a.m. Sunday to 223 S. Marshall St. in the village, according to Fire Chief Ken Yeakey.

Yeakey said the first firefighters found flames had engulfed half of the mobile home.

"Fire was in half the trailer and coming out," Yeakey said.

The child was found dead inside the structure, according to the Michigan State Police.

Yeakey said the boy's sister and parents were seriously injured and taken to a Kalamazoo hospital for treatment.

An investigator from the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal was at the scene Sunday but Yeakey said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Burlington firefighters were assisted by the Union City and the Tekonsha Fire departments.
