Rumor: Bayern Munich interested in Manchester United youngster as Arjen Robben successor

It looks like pure speculation at the moment, but TZ says that 19-year-old Dutchman Tahith Chong could be on Bayern’s radar.

According to Voetbal International (via TZ), Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong may have caught the attention of Bayern Munich. The 19-year-old Dutchman is said to be in the mold of Arjen Robben — a left footed inverted winger with the ability to cut inside and shoot.

The report doesn’t go into many details — as per TZ, Chong has attracted the attention of big clubs around the world, with Bayern being among them. However, you do get the sense that the paper is really struggling to make this rumor plausible, with most of the text reading like speculation regarding Bayern’s interest in another young Dutch winger.

Also in the report is a quote from the player’s agent, who says that Chong does not want to move and would prefer to make a name for himself in Manchester. Given that statement, it’s baffling why this rumor would gain any traction at all. As far as we can tell, this is an attempt by TZ to link a youngster with a move to Bayern in a bid to drive some traffic to their site.

So, for now, we advise you to take this report with a grain of salt, and assume that Tahith Chong is not coming to Bayern Munich.
