Pedestrian dies in Cambridge moped crash

A pedestrian has been killed in a crash involving a moped.

Lesley Bello-Hernandez, 67, of Ashvale, Cambridge, was walking along Arbury Road in Cambridge at about 14:10 GMT on Wednesday when the crash happened, police said. She died at the scene.

Two people have been arrested and Cambridgeshire Police confirmed that attempts had been made by officers to stop the moped before the crash.

The matter has now been passed to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking and possession with intent to supply drugs.

He remains in custody.

A 19-year-old woman was also arrested, but has been released under investigation.
