A suspected World War Two grenade which sparked the evacuation of a university building has turned out to be an agricultural item.

Archaeologists unearthed the alarming object during a dig at Bishop Grosseteste University's Open Research and Innovation Centre in Lincoln.

Upon further examination, Lincolnshire Police said, it emerged the find posed no public risk.

The university said it evacuated the centre as a precautionary measure.
