A body has been found during a police search of the River Severn after a car was discovered in the water.

The car is thought to have gone into the water at Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury, at about 02:00 BST on Tuesday, police said.

West Mercia Police said it believed the car was linked to the disappearance of 33-year-old Ashley Atkins who was reported missing on Tuesday.

The body has not been identified, but Mr Atkins' family has been informed.

Two men from Birmingham have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody.
