Overturned lorry blocks Stoke-on-Trent lanes

Motorists were hit by delays as an overturned lorry blocked three lanes on a major road.

Staffordshire Police said the A500 westbound had been blocked at the A50 near to the Sideway roundabout, Stoke-on-Trent.

The lorry also shed a load of wood on to the carriageway, according to traffic monitoring system INRIX.

Emergency services were at the scene and drivers had been advised to consider alternative routes

The road was cleared by 14:30 BST.

Staffordshire Police tweeted to thank drivers for their patience.
