Londonderry: Two men charged over Edward Meenan murder

Two men have been charged with the murder of a man in Londonderry.

The body of 52-year-old Edward Meenan was found in an alleyway at Creggan Street at about 02:45 GMT on Sunday.

Police said he had sustained significant injuries to his head and body.

The two men, aged 26 and 31, were charged on Thursday evening and are expected to appear at Londonderry Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of murder since Mr Meenan's death.

A 35-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man are still in police custody.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said that Mr Meenan's family asked for privacy "at this difficult time following the death of a much-loved son, brother and father".

"They have asked that anyone who has any information which may be of use to the investigation, please contact police."
