Police are investigating the "unexplained" death of a 22-year-old man found in a wooded area in Cardiff.

The body of Mark Anderson was discovered near Trelai Park in Ely at about 16:00 BST on Monday afternoon.

South Wales Police said he was taken to hospital but later died. Officers are appealing for information.

The force said it was trying to "establish the circumstances surrounding this incident", but no further details have been released.

Mr Anderson, from Caerau, went to Glynderw High School in Ely and enjoyed fishing, rugby, football and motorcycling.

In a family statement, his parents Sonia and James, along with siblings Cain, Jodie and Chloe, described him as "best person you could ever meet".

"The neighbourhood has been devastated by his death," it said.

"Mark had a loving relationship with his family and always got on well with everyone.

"As a family we are heartbroken and now need time to come to terms with our loss."
