A driver has been killed in a car crash in Cardiff.

The 68-year-old woman was in a Nissan Micra which collided with a Audi A3 on Cowbridge Road West's junction with Hillsnook Road, Ely, on Friday at 14:40 BST.

The Audi driver, a 35-year-old man from Cardiff, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

South Wales Police wants to speak to witnesses or anyone who stopped to help the drivers following the crash.

The woman, from Cardiff, was taken to the city's University Hospital of Wales but died from her injuries.

Her next of kin have been informed, police said.
