Whether you are looking for a family cycle ride, an exhilarating mountain bike route, to do laps of a Velodrome or a brand new closed road circuit, Carmarthenshire could be the place to head. The council have an ambition, to become the 'cycling hub of Wales'. They hope that they can encourage more people out on their bikes to the benefit of their health, to attract tourists and boost the local economy. Rachael Garside gets on her bike to explore some of the county's flagship projects such as the Towy Valley Path, Carmarthen Velodrome redevelopment and the Pembrey Closed Cycle Circuit facility, as well as the pathways and initiatives to promote and develop cycling as an everyday activity in Carmarthenshire. Not forgetting, of course, thatĀ stage one of theĀ Tour of Britain will be starting in Carmarthenshire next month ........after all Geraint Thomas' family roots are in the county!
