England were without Heather Knight in the field because of a hamstring problem, but they gave spinner Linsey Smith the first over and it paid off brilliantly as she removed the dangerous Hayley Matthews.

The run-out of Stafanie Taylor was another key moment.

Amy Jones hit the only six of the innings - but it's shown how far England have come that they made 180-6 in 20 overs, and were still disappointed.

Player of the match Danni Wyatt: "It was great to get back out there in a T20. I enjoyed myself and it was nice to get some runs.

"We thought we had a decent score at the break but the Windies pushed us hard and made us work for the win, which was a really good test for us.

"With the bat we ran hard and accelerated well towards the end. I think the bowlers did well. There were a few pressure overs that became quite important when the Windies were going big and they delivered to keep us ahead of the game."

It may not be the Ashes, but this is still international cricket - remember the criticism of the men's series against Pakistan, when people said it wasn't important. Heather Knight will say, every time you go out and represent your country, you go out as hard as you can.

As the TMS commentators alluded to, not a perfect day for England. But for the sake of the series, that's the most amount of fight and passion that West Indies have shown so far - and England will have wanted to be tested ahead of the Women's Ashes which is less than a fortnight ago.
