  1. Mourinho complaining

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Gary Flintoff

BBC Radio 5 live reporter at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho leaves his post-match press conference by complaining about the injuries picked up by his players on international duty.

  2. Is Jose the right man?

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Manchester United

Gary Lineker asks Paul Scholes on BT Sport if Jose Mourinho is the man to guide Manchester United.

"I think when you get into his third year you'd like to see an improvement year on year," replies Scholes. "A way of playing, an identity, I don't see what they are trying to achieve."

Asked if he would change Mourinho, Scholes says: "No I wouldn't. He has a great record, he has been at big clubs, won massive trophies. He did it in the first year. Its been a struggle since then. I think he has the experience to turn it around. In the last few weeks his attitude has been better toward players."

Rio Ferdinand adds: "His experience counts for a lot. His record and what he has achieved counts for a lot. The powers that be, the question for them is can this man turn the fortunes around?

"This game almost becomes a non-event as Juve were so much better. The game against Chelsea, the second half performance says he could turn it. I sit here in hope."

  3. Juventus a different level - Mourinho

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is asked if his Manchester United side gave Juventus too much respect.

He replies: "I don't think so. I tried not to. With the team we played it was to let the boys feel positive and take the positive feeling from our match at Stamford Bridge.

"But Juventus is a different level of quality, I have to be honest. A level of quality, stability, experience, know how. The base of the team they have Bonucci and Chiellini.

"That's the base that allows them to play with the freedom in attack. 'Lose the ball, no problem, we are here'.

"We could deserve a goal for the effort of the boys but it was not possible. I have no complaints with my boys. I have a positive feeling for their effort."

  4. Juve have huge quality - Mourinho

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho speaking to BT Sport: "In the other side there was huge quality. Sometimes people look for Ronaldo or Dybala but in a top team you have to look to Chiellini and Bonucci. I think Juventus is this type of team that when they are in front its very difficult.

"I think our attacking players, things were not coming. But everyone tried, everyone was strong mentally to try until the end. Juventus felt it and they ended the game with an extra central defender to add to the amazing Chiellini and Bonucci.

"It was a really difficult match for us. I thought we could take something but it was not possible."

  5. 'Amazing result'

    Shakhtar Donetsk 0-3 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on BT Sport: "In Europe 0-3 - we were outstanding. We created a lot of chances. Second half they pushed a lot and it was complicated. But when we regained the ball we could run. It was an amazing result. Now we recover with this result and in Germany (against Hoffenheim).

"If we are able to win the next game Shakhtar will be out. After our defeat in Lyon we were under pressure. I'm very pleased with our performance.

"The team was good last season, even the previous season, the locker room was always in the right position.

"We are together three seasons and we know each other much better. It's normal when you have three years together you are better than the first year."

  6. Post update

    Shakhtar Donetsk 0-3 Man City

Pep Guardiola has now won six Champions League matches as a manager against Shakhtar Donetsk (W6 D1 L2), at least two more than against any other opponent.

  7. 'Lukaku not linking well'

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Gary Flintoff

BBC Radio 5 live reporter at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho in his post-match press conference on Romelu Lukaku: “His moment is not sweet. Not just with the goals he is not scoring. He is not linking well with the team, but he is our striker. We believe in him.”

Lee Scott: Embarrassing really. Seeing my once great club being made to look like a Sunday League team. Juventus were the better side by far. Lindelof and Young played well, Pogba too lazy, everyone else just average

SMS Message: The only silver lining for Manchester United tonight is that Valencia could only get a point against Young Boys. If Valencia had won, the pressure on Mourinho to get a result in Turin would’ve been huge. from Cai Slade, York

  10. 'Really, this is Manchester United?'

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Manchester United

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand talking to BT Sport: "Every single Juventus player will come off the pitch and say 'wow I was under no pressure today.' The team at home were playing like the away team, Juventus were pressing them rather than the other way around.

"If I went out on a home game and I was told to sit back and retreat I'd be shocked, I'd be thinking 'really? this is Manchester United.' If that's the tactics they've been told before they left the dressing room then I'd be shocked."

  11. Post update

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says his players did not have "honey in their feet" following their defeat by Juventus.

  12. 'United could have done with Solskjaer'

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Phil Neville

Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Juventus, especially in the first 60 minutes, were sensational. They took the game to a different level to what Manchester United were at.

United are 10th in the Premier League and that's not good enough if you are then going to go on and win the Champions League.

Tonight highlights the gulf in quality between Juventus and United.

It is a problem and the supporters won't be happy and neither will Jose Mourinho

United could have done with bringing on someone like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tonight.

    Juventus' centre-backs were sensational.

  13. Post update

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

Juve have won their opening three matches of a Champions League campaign for the fourth time. They won the group in all three of those previous seasons.

  14. 'First half cost us'

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Manchester United

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof speaks to BT Sport: "I think we deserved more than to lose.

"In the last couple of games we played really well in the second half, we have to start the games the way we were in the second half.

"The way we played in the second half we can take that to Juve. We know they are a great team but the way we were in the second half we need to do more often."

    Victor Lindelof
  15. 'We gave them too much respect'

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Manchester United

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw speaking to BT Sport: "I think first half we gave them too much respect we let them play far too easy, in the second half we tried and for some reason again we performed better in the second half, we pushed on but didn't create many chances and like I said we gave them too much respect.

"We trained for them, we knew what was coming, in the first half we gave them too much time on the ball we should of been pressing higher. At least Valencia didn't win, now we have to go to Juventus and get a result."

  16. Firing blanks

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

United fail to score in consecutive Champions League matches for the first time since November to December 2012, when they had 1-0 group stage defeats against both Galatasaray (away) and CFR Cluj (home).

  17. Improving every game

    Shakhtar Donetsk 0-3 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City captain David Silva on BT Sport: "We could have scored a lot of goals. We scored three. We are happy. lt's difficult and this is a tough place to come. We have a lot of chances.

"We are playing better every game. We need to improve a little bit more. If we play like this we will get more points."

Man City's former Shakhtar midfielder Fernandinho: "I've come here and seen so many faces and friends. I'm glad to be back here. It was an important game for us. They have a lot of good, attacking players. They make the game so hard."
