Sheffield Wednesday caretaker manager Lee Bullen on the sidelines

A fine old night in the EFL sees a new team in Sheffield Wednesday head up the Championship table.

Not a bad night's work for caretaker boss Lee Bullen.

Elsewhere, we've had thrillers at Portsmouth, Accrington and Plymouth across Leagues One and Two.

You've just got to love this time of the season.

We'll be back for the rest of this midweek set of fixtures tomorrow. For now, thank you for joining us.

  2. League Two full-time headlines

Leyton Orient celebrate their late winner at Mansfield
    • Leyton Orient came from behind to end Mansfield's unbeaten record at Field Mill, winning 3-2 thanks to a late winner from Jordan Maguire-Drew.
    • Plymouth had to wait until the 89th minute to snatch a point against Salford City, Dominic Telford's penalty earning a point in a 2-2 draw.
    • Bradford continued their unbeaten run with a 1-0 win over Stevenage thanks to Tom Soares own-goal, while Port Vale picked up three points for the first time in nine - beating Forest Green 2-1.
  3. League One full-time headlines

    • Nine-man Coventry fought back to draw 3-3 with Portsmouth in a real thriller at Fratton Park, Michael Rose netting a late equaliser.
    • Shrewsbury Town also had to show character to overhaul a deficit against Accrington, winning 3-2 in the end thanks to Daniel Udoh's winner.
    • Ipswich left it late - until added time - to beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 while Sunderland were 2-1 victors at Rochdale.
  4. Championship full-time headlines

Josh Brownhill celebrates scoring against Derby County
    • Sheffield Wednesday move top of the Championship table as Kadeem Harris' goal is enough to beat Luton Town at Hillsborough
    • Bristol City inflict a first league defeat on Derby County as Andreas Weimann and Josh Brownhill score for the Robins
    • Jonathan Woodgate records his first win as Middlesbrough boss, with Britt Assombalonga's header giving the Teessiders victory at home against Wigan
  5. Post update

    Phew.

Another stellar night in the English Football League - let's take a look at some of the headlines.

  6. ORIENT SNATCH IT AT MANSFIELD

    League Two

Unbeaten Mansfield, won't be unbeaten anymore!

Ross Embleton's side were 2-0 down against a Stags side that were coasting but now Leyton Orient have all but snatched the points!

Jordan Maguire-Drew is credited with scoring the winner at the end of a see-saw tussle.

  7. FULL-TIME

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Luton

    The whistle goes!

Wedneday win and are top of the Championship table!

  8. FULL-TIME

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Wigan

Britt Assombalonga's 23rd-minute goal gives Jonathan Woodgate his first win as Middlesbrough boss and gives them their first win of the season as Wigan's losing run stretches to four games.

  9. JACKSON NICKS IT FOR IPSWICH!

    League One

Kayden Jackson, in the fourth minute of added time, has put Ipswich Town ahead for a precious, precious three points against plucky AFC Wimbledon!

2-1 in the dying minutes. Phew, pressure valve released.

  10. FULL-TIME

    Derby 1-2 Bristol City

Despite Jack Marriot's stunning 85th-minute turn and strike, Bristol City take home the three points after Andreas Weimann and Josh Brownhill got the visitors off the mark.

  11. FULL-TIME

    Hull 0-1 Blackburn

Hull are made to pay for Jarrod Bowen's first half penalty miss as Blackburn snatch three points thanks to Derrick Williams.

  12. Cod Army wallop Wycombe

    League One

Big, big goal from Paddy Madden! Fleetwood have sneaked a last-minute equaliser against Wycombe thanks to the Republic of Ireland striker. 1-1.

  13. FULL-TIME

    Birmingham 2-0 Barnsley

All over at St Andrew's and, after a dull hour or so, goals from Lukas Jutkiewicz and a debut goal from Alvaro Gimenez gifts Birmingham all three points against Barnsley.

  14. Plymouth level at Home Park

    League Two

Plymouth have drawn level from the penalty spot against Salford to rescue a point it would seem.

Dominic Telford showed calm and poise to stroke it in. Bedlam for the masses of Argyle supporters.

    DRAMA.

  15. No taming of the Shrew at Accrington

    League One

Shrewsbury have scored again and LEAD 3-2 at Accrington.

Daniel Udoh scores and it's turned around completely. Wow.

  16. SKY BLUES ARE LEVEL

    League One

    RIDICULOUS GAME.

Coventry are down to nine-men. NINE MEN.

But they are level against Portsmouth. 3-3.

Michael Rose smashes the ball home after a throw caused utter panic in the home penalty area and the away support - who have made a long trip - dance jubilantly. Wild scenes.

  17. Shrews level at Accy

    League One

Fejiri Okenabirhre, a tongue-twister if there ever was one - has pulled Shrewsbury level at the Wham Stadium, burying a touch past Dimitar Eftimov for the equaliser. 2-2.

    What a game.

  18. Post update

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Wigan

It's not looking likely that Wigan will find an equaliser against Middlesbrough at the Riverside.

Jonathan Woodgate looks set to find his first win as Boro boss and the Latics are down to 10 men!

However it's not down to a sending off, it's because Kieffer Moore went down injured and could not continue.

  19. Fraser treble puts Brewers beyond doubt?

    League One

I put a question mark on this because I just don't believe it'll be over til it's over.

But Scott Fraser has claimed his treble against Oxford to put Burton Albion 4-2 in front at the Kassam.

  20. Tractor Boys chug their way level

    League One

Ipswich fans all around Portman Road breathe a sigh of relief as James Norwood gets his head to a beautiful ball in from Alan Judge to level thing up against AFC Wimbledon. 1-1.

Will we have more drama from Suffolk tonight?
